Beautiful Weather in La Jolla and other areas

Wow this was a beautiful weekend.  We had picnics in La Jolla and Mission Beach and brunches at the San Diego Hilton and Hyatt Islandia.  The air was dewey sweet and with a slight breeze. Good Padre game and then dinner downtown in the Gaslamp plus almost forgot a walk on the beach in Coronado.  Tacos at El Gordo and some sight seeing mostly along the beaches area. July is such a nice month to be in Soutern California and we are all blessed to be able to enjoy it, especially if you have friends and family.
Nice cool night in SD. Bought an awesome rib eye steak from Trader Joes and broiled it and it came out perfectly.  Also had some mashed potatoes and boiled carrots.  Went to the San Diego Wild Animal Part on Saturday morning and took the tram around with the family and it was really nice.  Then went to Farmer Boys for hamburgers.  And had some peas that were bursting with country fresh flavor.  Then to sleep nice and early.
Been at La Jolla Shores today watching people agape at the sightings on Monday of a great white shark off the coast of La Jolla Shores, San Diego coastline. There were a lot fewer people in the water on Tuesday.  I'd say one-tenth of the usual number and they were almost all surfers or people just wading in to about mid body. But it was a beautiful day and we had a bbq in the park looking out over the beach and I remembered the nature trails around University of California San Diego and we walked around there.  It was very desolte of course because school is out for the summer and there are only a few summer classes going on. Then went to downtown La Jolla and ate at Trulock's and had the stone crabs and I also had a steak tarate which is what I always eat on holidays.
Getting a lot done this week.  San Diego Fair and racetrack is open and I love to try all the super fattening foods.  I don't go on the rides much anymore, but I do enjoy the ribbon winning booths and set ups.  Best of all you see a lot of different types of people from San Diego who flock here every year. Actually I do always go on the ferris wheel every year of course and that is technically a ride and I can see the hot air ballon landing site.  Also the Pacific Ocean from way up there.  It's the best fair in Southern California in the summer and I hope everyone tries it out.  It is held at the Del Mar Racetrack which is off the I-5 in North San Diego.  About a 2 hour drive from Los Angeles.
Went by Point Loma Seafoods again but it was rather dreary outside and I thought it might rain.  Then drove thru Hillcrest and down the 163 to Kearney Mesa and looked into the Book Off store and bought some books. Found a good book on San Diego haunted houses for my collection as well as a book on the 5 mafia families and I used a first letter memorization technique - let's see if I can do it: Bonnano, Colombo, Genovese and Luchese. Nope see I forgot one!  I think it begins with C.
Gorgeous weekend here in San Diego with the fam.  Went to Phil's BBQ and Seaworld.  Also walked about Mission Bay which is the smaller bay north of San Diego Bay.  Saw a lot of parties along the beach on the other side at Fiesta Island and the dog walkers. Fiesta Island is such a  big ugly place it's amazing the haven't found something better to do with it.  When SanDiegoGov or SanDAG get the funding it would be great to witness and real beach park arise from what is now sand dunes and OTL tournament areas. Then we traveled all as one back to La Jolla and stopped off at Mt. Soledad Park which has the big cross.  The view was amazing.  Imagine having a house up there? Looking north you see the coast and UCSD and UTC areas.  Then lok straight out to see East County. To the South you look over Mission Bay and Point Loma (which look very small) and you see the Coronado Bridge and downtown San Diego. Even further out you will see Tijuana. Then we...
